The Starfield Mall in Anseong isn’t just any ordinary mall. It’s a vast sprawling empire dedicated to consumerism. And for us on that particular day, it was an escape to a culinary wonderland. Amidst our window shopping for Legos—a shared joy between Jon, Russell, and me—we found ourselves lured into the expansive dining arena of the mall.
There was Gourmet Street, a boulevard that promised an upscale dining experience in cozy interiors. One could almost forget they were in a mall. A level below, City Market combined the charm of street vendors with the organized chaos of a bustling food court. But, it was the name Eatopia, teasing from the floor above, that intrigued us the most. A utopia for food enthusiasts? We had to see it.
After our culinary exploration, we decided on Lobster Bar in Gourmet Street. Russell, always a burger aficionado, went for the New England Double Cheese Burger. From the look on his face with every bite, it was evident that the homemade patty nestled with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato was hitting the right spots. Jon, opting for a seaside delight, chose the Shrimp and Lobster Platter. It featured grilled lobster and coconut shrimp, served alongside a vibrant house salad and crispy fries, embodying a perfect blend of sea flavors.
I, on the other hand, felt like diving into something comforting and familiar. The New England Clam Chowder, creamy and filled with the richness of mussels, clams, and veggies, was exactly what I was craving. The accompanying England flat bread was a delightful touch.
Of all the things, it was the fries that stole the show. Perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within, they disappeared from our plates faster than we could talk.
As we ate, we found joy in the small things—the crunch of a fry, the colors of the Legos we had ogled, and the gentle ribbing about Jon’s luxurious seafood choice. Dining out wasn’t just about the food; it was about the shared moments and memories we were creating.
Leaving Starfield Mall that evening, our stomachs were full, but our hearts were fuller. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience, a story to be told. And perhaps, a Lego set or two to be bought in the near future.
