There’s something truly infectious about the vibrancy of Seoul. On this particular day, my husband and I found ourselves soaking in the city's essence, thanks to an embassy appointment — not ours, but Jurate's and her family's.
Jurate, with her husband Tadas and son August in tow, had official matters to attend to at the embassy. And well, electronics aren’t exactly the most welcome guests in such places. So, we happily played guardians to their gadgets, freeing them to focus on their appointment.
With time on our hands and the city at our feet, my husband and I felt like tourists in the best way possible. Our footsteps took us to Gwanghwamun Square, where we stood face-to-face with the bronze majesty of King Sejong. For a moment, amidst the hustle and bustle of Seoul, time seemed to pause. Here was the iconic king, his legacy etched not just in bronze but in the very fabric of Korean history, reminding every onlooker of the country’s glorious past.
However, while history is fascinating, the call of caffeine is often more urgent. A short walk led us to a charming little spot - Coffee@Work. The name intrigued us, drawing us in, and the ambiance sealed the deal. With its cozy interiors and the comforting hum of brewing coffee and hushed conversations, it felt like a haven in the heart of the city.
We settled in, ordering a Strawberry-ade for me — a refreshing burst of sweet and tangy — while my husband indulged in a rich Cafe Mocha. As we sipped our drinks, the world outside our window continued its dance, offering snippets of stories from the lives of passersby.
It's funny how simple moments sometimes etch themselves into your memory. The juxtaposition of the grandeur of King Sejong's statue against the humble, intimate setting of Coffee@Work was both contrasting and complementary, painting a day of unexpected pleasures.
