Ediya Coffee: A Surprising Gem in the South Korean Coffee Landscape

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

Exploring different cafés for our weekly lunch dates has become a cherished ritual for my husband Jon and me. Whether it's the allure of discovering a new brew or the excitement of tasting eclectic foods, each café brings a unique flavor into our lives. This week, our gastronomic journey led us to Ediya Coffee, a large chain coffee establishment situated in Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, South Korea.

First Impressions: Not Just Another Chain Café

From the outset, Ediya Coffee struck us as more than just another face in the crowd of chain coffee shops. Its modern aesthetic and inviting atmosphere immediately made us feel at home. Unlike many large chains that sacrifice character for uniformity, Ediya Coffee somehow manages to retain a unique charm.

The Beverage Experience: Mint Mocha Iced Coffee

My eyes instantly darted to the Mint Mocha Iced Coffee on the menu. This wasn't your ordinary coffee. The first sip revealed an intense mingling of mint, chocolate, and coffee, delivering a symphony of flavors in every gulp. This refreshing concoction served as an incredible wake-up call for the taste buds, simultaneously invigorating and satisfying. If you're someone who loves the blend of mint and mocha, this drink is a must-try.

Hawaiian Pizza: A Tropical Twist

For our lunch course, we opted to share a Hawaiian Pizza. Featuring a harmonious blend of ham, pineapple, red onion, and melted mozzarella on a well-cooked dough crust, the pizza offered a delightful mix of savory and sweet flavors. The crust had just the right amount of crispiness, and the toppings were distributed evenly, making every bite a treat.

Dessert Perfection: Affogato

To end our meal on a sweet note, we chose an Affogato—espresso poured over vanilla ice cream. This Italian classic was, to put it simply, the perfect conclusion to our lunch. The hot espresso melded seamlessly with the cold ice cream, creating a texture and flavor experience unlike any other.

The Sharing Philosophy

One of the reasons Jon and I love our weekly lunch dates is the joy of sharing. By splitting our orders, we not only keep our calorie count in check but also get to taste a wider variety of foods. It's like having the best of all worlds, but without the guilt of overindulgence. And believe me, the temptation is real when the food is as delicious as it is at Ediya Coffee.

Comparing Chains: The Ediya Advantage

Having frequented several coffee chains in the Pyeongtaek area, Ediya Coffee holds its ground as a reputable contender. Its selection of beverages and food items isn't confined to standard coffee shop fare. The innovative menu ensures you can always try something new, aligning perfectly with our mission to keep our lunch dates diverse and adventurous.

Something for Everyone

Whether you're a coffee aficionado, a pizza lover, or someone with a sweet tooth, Ediya Coffee offers a broad palette of choices. It caters to a wide range of customers, from students catching up on assignments to couples enjoying a quiet lunch date like us. The atmosphere is relaxed, making it an ideal spot for leisurely sips and bites.

Future Visits: On the Cards

Given the flavorful experience at Ediya Coffee, we’re certain that this will be one of our regular stops. The extensive menu means that we could come back numerous times without repeating orders. There are so many more flavors to try, each promising a unique gastronomic journey.

In Conclusion: Coffee, Food, and Memories

Ediya Coffee is a true gem that takes the chain café experience to a new level. Its diverse menu, coupled with an inviting ambiance, offers more than just a meal; it offers an experience. And in our quest for unique café adventures, experiences are what we seek the most.

Jon and I left Ediya Coffee with our taste buds gratified, our hearts content, and our spirits high. It was another successful chapter in our ongoing saga of lunch dates, leaving us eager and excited for the next culinary destination on our list.
