Brunch, in my humble opinion, is the best meal of the day. It's the delightful overlap of breakfast and lunch, capturing the essence of a laid-back weekend. And when it’s paired with the perfect setting, it becomes an experience, a memory etched in time. This weekend, we chanced upon such a memory at the "Into The Forest Café" in Paengseong-eup.
Finding Our Way into the Forest
Located at 9 12-4 Anjeong-ri, the café is a little oasis nestled amidst the bustling streets of Pyeongtaek-si. As we parked in the spacious lot behind the café (a rarity and a blessing!), the forest-themed exterior beckoned us. With wooden accents, green foliage, and the sound of chirping birds, we were transported into a sylvan paradise.
Stepping Back in Time
Walking in, the first thing that grabbed our attention was the large projector screen, reminiscent of a classic movie theater. There, to our delight, was the mischievous Pink Panther, darting around in his signature style. Russell's eyes widened with curiosity, a classic cartoon so different from the contemporary ones he's used to. And for Jon and me, it was a slice of nostalgia.
Adjacent to the dining space was the pool table, where Jon and Russell made a beeline. The joy of a father teaching his step-son the nuances of a game he loves, all while waiting for a scrumptious meal, was heartwarming to watch.
A Forest Feast
While the boys engaged in a friendly pool competition, I scanned the menu. It was a delightful mix of breakfast classics and some unique twists. We settled on French Toast with Scrambled Eggs and Bacon for Jon and me, while Russell opted for Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, and Bacon.
When our food arrived, it looked as delightful as it tasted. The French Toast was the right blend of crispy and soft, the syrup drizzling down in golden rivulets. Russell's pancakes were fluffy, with the bacon providing that salty contrast. The scrambled eggs? Light, airy, and seasoned to perfection.
Affordable Family Fun
One of the highlights of our brunch experience was how budget-friendly it was. Often, themed cafes tend to lean on the pricier side. But Into The Forest Café offers value for money, making it a perfect spot for frequent family outings.
Enchanting Decor
But let's circle back to the cafe's décor. It played a massive part in our overall experience. The forest-themed touches weren’t just restricted to the exteriors. Inside, from the wood-paneled walls, the rustic chandeliers made of branches, to the earthy tones all around, it was evident that a lot of thought went into creating an authentic forest ambiance.
Our Verdict
Into The Forest Café isn’t just a place to eat; it’s an experience. It’s about bonding over pool games, laughing at classic cartoons, and enjoying a meal that reminds you of home. It’s about finding pockets of nature in the midst of urban chaos.
Will we be back? Without a doubt. Not just for the fantastic food or the beautiful ambiance, but for the memories we can create there as a family. If you’re in or around Pyeongtaek-si and are looking for a family-friendly brunch spot, Into The Forest Café should be on your list.
